A \u2018means\u2019 of expression is different from a \u2018medium of expression\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>II<\/strong><br \/>\nA \u2018means of expression\u2019 is purposive and is a carrier of a message &#8211; an agent for transmission. It has within it a communication goal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>III<\/strong><br \/>\nA \u201cmedium of expression\u201d is a-purposive. Multiple media can be used in combination as a single means\u00a0to express a message. Eg: Book is a medium, a Novel is a &#8216;means&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IV<\/strong><br \/>\nSo far, \u2018means\u2019 has been restricted by the media \u2013 these have been inter-twined. Eg: A \u2018musician\u2019 has been classified by the medium of expression rather than by the \u2018means\u2019 of expression.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>V<\/strong><br \/>\nA \u201cmeans of expression\u201d is a means of classifying knowledge objects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>VI<\/strong><br \/>\nA \u2018medium\u2019 becomes a \u2018means\u2019 when it transmits a message.
