It represents, instead, a matrix of attributes about oneself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This matrix of attributes called the identity may be described thus:<br \/>\n<em>(this is only one of many identity constructs through which individuals describe themselves)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9072 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/srinivasv.com\/mapsofbecoming\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/disabling-identity-construct.jpg\" alt=\"Example of a Disabling Identity Construct\" width=\"650\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srinivasv.com\/mapsofbecoming\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/disabling-identity-construct.jpg 650w, https:\/\/srinivasv.com\/mapsofbecoming\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/disabling-identity-construct-300x154.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Clearly, this is an extremely subjective construct that is attempting to scope or define an amorphous whole called \u201cme\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This subjectivity leads us to constantly assess, reassess, and \u201cconfirm\u201d our descriptions of self, estimates of capacities, and assessment of possessions with what other people think (about us).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This dependence on other people for feedback leads to several difficulties \u2013 a sense of self based on what others think, mismatches between what one thinks and others think (leading to complexes), an estimation of one\u2019s capabilities that is not validated by experience, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this framework there is no space for human possibility; there is no space for an evolutionary struggle;.
