- Reason, as we know it, is built on the individual self-interest.
- Enlightened reason looks at good of all stakeholders. This is therefore about ‘widening’ one’s frame.
- Universal Reason begins with the notion that truth is what is for the good of the universe. The unit of thinking is the universe as a whole.
- Sustainability comes from this frame of Enlightened Reason – the planet has to survive, the next generation which has to be worried about, and today’s good also has to be seen. The solution therefore has to consider all factors.
