Character is only built through fear and discipline – not through love and sweetness.

This is because character is of the nature of renunciation and rigor.

It has to be enforced with no compromises. The mind has to be shaped – beaten.

Character can also be built through ‘emulation’ (eg: some children build character by emulating parents – all things don’t require a beating) – however this is the learner’s choice – if he doesn’t learn through emulation, then he has to be disciplined.

Character is the crucible in which great works are done.
