Character: the struggle of realizing one’s Ideal

The ideal is not character – it is simply a coherent whole – resolving within itself – in its own system of internal axioms and postulates – the entire set of dichotomies and possibilities inherent in that ideal.

Character represents the struggle of realizing that ideal. Character is the by-product of the struggle for realization of an ideal. It is of the substance of ideas, principles, and the energy of transformation of the ideas and principles into application and attitude.

Character therefore is the ideal when “tested” by life.

Character, put another way, is the measure of robustness, of strength and stability, of complete acceptance of the demands of the ideal.

Character is the scaffolding in which an ideal is held firm and integral in the face of a fragmented existence.

  1. What happens when the individual is not aware about such ideal? Character is still there, which again is not being shaped with a conscious mind.
